Two mermaid friends from Hatteras Village share a love for watching the deep sea fishing charter boats and waving to the people on the ferry as it passes by. With their tails swishing back and forth in the gentle waves, they chatter and giggle as they observe the comings and goings of the human world. They love to speculate about the lives of those on the boats and ferry, imagining the adventures and stories that lie behind each passing vessel. For these two mermaids, watching the boats and ferry is a favorite pastime, a way to feel connected to the land and sea that they call home.
